Well, we are settling into a bit of routine.
Lots of wildlife viewing out our back porch and lanai windows, although we have not spied any alligators since my last post.

But there has been lots of bird life
This is just one afternoon's sampling.

and today, I spied some other strange wildlife!

The little girl in the boat was dragging her hand in the water as the boat drifted by.  Thought about calling out about the gator, but figured they could protect themselves.  And the 'gator was nowhere to be seen so I would have just looked a little silly.  Obviously the natives know the lay of the land, or lake in this case.

The hot spell has broken and we are back to more normal temperatures for January here in Florida.  After a couple of weeks of 80 plus weather, the high 60's feels cool, but we are adjusting.   Oh how quickly we lost our Ontario tolerance for cold weather (if we ever had it)

The hot weather did spawn our desire for salads.  We had a some really good salads at a couple of restaurants, so I decided we could do the same here at home.  Here is a salad I made with all kinds of wonderful toppings and a homemade peppered strawberry vinaigrette dressing.   It was yummy and good for us as well.  With a whole grain roll on the side it was a perfect meal.

We golfed last week, I golfed with the women on Tuesday, while Alf golfed another course with the guys, and then we golfed on Wednesday with a couples group.  But we have discovered the people we like golfing with the best is each other.  So we are going try to get out just the two of us more often.  I need a chance to beat Alf at golf!   There are lots of discounts available so we can get two games for the price of one, and we just learned of another website that has some other good deals.

Friday night found us at ballroom dancing lessons.  I think I have turned Alf into a dance monster.  He really is enjoying it.  I guess he figured it is a lot like any sport, you just have to master the steps, play with confidence and away you go.  (Now all I have to do is remember to let him lead!)

So back to our routine - tomorrow it is bowling day, we are subbing on the league - always seems to be some folks away and  they always need subs.  I am starting to get a bit better and have raised a my handicap average a bit.  Each week I figure out something more about how to get the ball to go down the lane where I want it to go.  Now I won't tell that Alf had a rather off week last week and didn't get close to his average.  Oh, I guess I did tell you!

Now for all the grammar police out there, I know I have made a few grammatical mistakes, but hey, I am retired now.  So may I say, so long for now, eh!
