We have been busy - so much for retirement - we have been working very hard, cleaning, painting and sprucing up our new place.  But it is so much fun, it hardly seems like work.  Finding the bargains to furnish and decorate makes it even more fun.

I have some pics I will share - mostly the before pics, stay tuned for the after.

Here is the living room - we are getting new carpet for this room.  The old stuff is dirty and very "cushy".  They put two layers of sponge foam underpad and you sink so deep into it you can hardly walk. The installer is supposed to be there tomorrow.

We purchased the sofa bed from Habitat for Humanity - they were having a half-price sale and I swear that sofa has never been used - the mattress was still wrapped in plastic.  And there is not a mark or wear on it.  We also got the coffee table and end tables there.  The cute little birdhouse lamps (sorry they still have the price tags on them) we bought at the Salvation Army - $10 for the pair.  The picture was left by the previous owner - the frame for the canvas isn't square - but if I can fix it, it might be a keeper.  I think it is an original - but not a Monet or Renoir  ( I wish).  The occasional chair was also left by the previous owner.

First on the makeover is the  guest room.  We wanted to paint it before the carpet was laid.  Had to get rid of the lovely dark, dusty pink wall.

Here is Alf washing the ceiling.  He can actually do work, with a little direction.
See the mop, see the pail, see the ceiling, - good now put the beer away and clean it!
and this is the wall after we applied the primer - (I cut in and Alf rolled - what a team) we decided to paint the panelling as well because there were a lot of marks and some stains on it.

Another view of that nice "cushy" carpet.  Even the guys who delivered the sofa stepped on it and said "wow, that is cushy!"  And we said yep and it is going, going, gone!

After a hard day of work we went out onto our porch to relax only to be greeted by our birds.

And a beautiful view.  The lake/pond was so still that it reflected the shoreline and clouds.

And the fish were jumping every few minutes.  One fellow was taking advantage of a good fishing day, he must have been out there for a couple of hours - don't know if he caught anything but I think his chances must have been pretty good.

We are working rehab on the planter, it is full of aloe plants - probably should re-pot, but they are already starting to green up.

We have had a couple of visitors to our place, friends from the park, and they all agree, we have a million dollar view, but lots to do.  But we have years and years to get there. I thought about having a "Hyatt Clan Workbee" but then I remembered that it took my bros a whole long weekend to assemble a children's outdoor playset.  Oh well, it was a good thought in passing.

Ta Ta for now
